The Artist's Journey
It began in a Sunday school hall in Malawi, with a borrowed script and an audience of neighbours. Valentino Vincent Molosen was a boy who discovered that a room could change temperature when a story was told well — and he has spent his life chasing that temperature.
National recognition arrived with Strike a Blow and Die, a historical epic that demanded a performance carrying the weight of a country's memory. What followed was not a rush toward celebrity but a deliberate expansion of craft: producing Spaces, Classmate and Pamango, learning budgets and contracts with the same seriousness he brought to character work.
Today he directs. Act 21 is the fullest expression yet of a voice that is patient, political and unmistakably Malawian — a filmmaker convinced that authentic African narratives deserve the same rigour, funding and global reach as any other.
